5’9” x 20 7/16” x 2 1/2”
Scaled up and slimmed down, Ryan worked off of WIll’s 5’3 for this variation. Stretching the outline to the most commonly ordered keel fish size, and slimmed down to take some of the excess volume that most fishes tend to carry, out. It’s got a relatively progressive rocker, so will see you through a wide variety of conditions just like its little brother, but will float a larger frame with ease. This size can be paired with either the Piggyback Keel for lighter surfers and more vertical approaches, or your favorite futures-based keel fin.
Essential Particulars: “The 5’9 variation is more foiled than its original counterpart - but keeping the core design totally intact. The flat deck and single concave underneath lets you hammer down for speed on your front foot, while the quick transition to heavy vee directly under your back foot creates drag which is key to this boards success. That drag allows you to hunker down on your back foot and keep it in the pocket, working the board top to bottom where most fishes will squirt out from under you. Its an interesting balance and was a left-turn from my normal approach to fishes, but creating two distinct areas of operation on the board seemed to pay off in keeping both that blazing down the line speed and operation in the sweet spot when the wave slows.”
